Summary
He wasn’t born blind. Because of that, he could remember exactly what certain things looked like- could picture them clearly in his mind. The beautiful confusion of a crystal chandelier, the dark organic lines of polished wood, the center bright yellow of a flickering candle. Things his fingers would never be able to translate for him.
It meant that at 19, Sanji could navigate the world from a combination of memory and new sensory experiences. The scent and taste of paprika was that which he could still experience, while the red color remained lost to another time even if it was still, in fact, red. On good days if he opened his eyes and squinted for a long, long minute, he thought he could see the blur of that desert-sky spice through the white-blue tinge of glass, but maybe it was just his own imagination filling in blanks.
The lost color of paprika didn’t bother him. What bothered him was when people acted like this was some great loss on his part. He’d been pitied by enough customers when he was younger to fulfill a lifetime quota of pity, thank you very much. Granted, he’d walked into an awful lot of furniture in those days. At least now when he walked into furniture he did it in a really cool way. -

“Ok, it looks like your corneas have been scratched a bit, and there might be a few metal splinters I’ll have to get out. Nothing permanent!” Chopper quickly added, still keeping Sanji's face still. “Let’s get you to my office so I can take care of that.”
“Yeah, ok.” And then Sanji forgot he was blind and started walking again.
The combined shout of Chopper and Zoro didn’t stop the motion of falling from happening, and so by the time Sanji hit the water he had only enough time to think ‘well this is embarrassing.’ Fucking humiliating is what is was, falling off the side of a boat like an infant. The subsequent drowning wasn’t fantastic either.

Sanji deals with temporary blindness. He deals with it almost as well as he deals with emotions.

Summary
The companions guild was something the swordsman had always been aware of distantly, something he was absolutely not allowed to refer to as a whore house or a brothel as apparently that was offensive despite the whole intercourse for money thing still happening. Rich kids get a first hand demonstration on the world of fucking in a controlled, clean, and most importantly, proper way. When Zoro had first learned about it he had laughed. Then Mihawk had told him he’d be assigned his own companion for “education”. Zoro hadn’t laughed at that.

Summary
The mermaid swims up to the glass, climbing in the current until he reaches the third tier of the viewing platforms- right where Zoro is standing. Their faces align on opposite sides of the glass and Zoro feels his breath catch.
He's smiling. A charming twist of his lips as vibrant blue eyes gleam in the light of the tank. His hair halos his features, his bangs floating away and showing off an unusual set of curled eyebrows. His ears are pointed and webbed, and there's a smattering of iridescent scales across his cheeks that sparkle like freckled gemstones, accentuating the narrow cut of his jaw.
Fuck- He’s beautiful.
And then, the mermaid opens his mouth.
“I don’t qualify as a fish."

Summary
Some number of hours and instructions later, Franky is proudly explaining his new dishwashing machine to the rest of the crew as Sanji gathers plates by the stack from the dinner table.
Zoro stands from the table, gathering the cleared dishes as he heads to the sink.
“Those will only need a rinse, Marimo,” Sanji informs him. “Franky’s machine will handle the rest.”
Zoro pauses in the middle of the kitchen. He turns his head and stares at the machine for a moment, brow low. Then, he turns and sets the stacks of plates down, glancing back over to the blond.
“Guess you won’t need me then, huh, Cook,” Zoro remarks.
Sanji straightens before he means to. The plates balanced on his elbow waver but adjusts to keep them aloft.
…Sanji hadn’t thought of that.
