Summary
They both knew the roles they had to play: Kuroo was a knight for another kingdom that was on the verge of helping to fight and end a war. Kenma was a prince. He was meant to marry a woman of royalty as a means to unite kingdoms, and then produce an heir to the throne. It would be unheard of to go against the cruel expectations their society had for them.
But Kenma didn’t care about society. Nor did he care about being royalty.
--
When Kenma (a prince and aspiring mage) finds out that Kuroo (a high ranking knight) is being sent off to war, he decides the time to confess his feelings for Kuroo is now, or never.

Summary
Tetsurou is eight years old when he meets Kenma.
“My name is Kuroo,” he manages to say. His voice shakes with every syllable, but he forces through, doesn’t want to have to repeat himself. “I just moved next door. Um, this is my d-dad.”
Still, a moment passes with the other boy not saying anything. He just stares at Tetsurou, blinking but not smiling. There’s barely a sign that he’s heard him at all.
When it seems like the silence has stretched on for an eternity too long, Kozume-san chimes in, her voice soft and clear, a hand on the boy’s head, “This is Kenma. He can’t speak.”
