  1. Summary

A continuation of Supernatural's story post series. Fixing all that story lines we needed to be fixed, like Dean and Castiel's reunion and Chucks true ending, plus adding all the stories we wanted from the show, like Wayward sisters and a new Men of Letters.

    Summary

Freshly freed from Maleshov, Hans can't seem to get Henry's well being out of his mind, and it's killing him that no one else seems to care.

When Henry comes back from the Jewish Quarter, trembling and exhausted, Hans takes it upon himself to look after his errant squire, even if it means he has to learn a bit of alchemy to help Henry get a decent bit of sleep.

(Maybe, along the way, he can figure out just what it is he's feeling for the man, and why it hurts to be apart.)

    -x-

“We were just on our way to Maleshov to parley with him, ensure that you truly were alive and well.”

“Well, thanks to Henry, you didn’t have to parley,” Hans replies, but the words feel cold in his mouth. Thanks to Henry, but Henry isn’t even here. Henry didn’t even get a moment to breathe before being sent off, yet again. To the very den of their enemy.

His chest aches, bitterness blooming in his heart like the slow spread of frost across clear water.

    Summary

“Is it fear that haunts you, Sir Hans?” Henry was gloating now, taking one step forward. Closing the distance he created. He’d grabbed the reins and thrown this horse's head off its godforsaken track. “Are you afraid someone will hear a whisper in the dark? What about when you breathe my name into your wife’s ear?”

The blacksmith steam rolled viciously through his veins.

    “You have no right—“

“Then put me on the fucking gallows, you royal prick.”

    Summary

"At first, I thought he'd be happier if he didn't go through with it. You know, Hans is such a rascally gander. He sure as shit doesn't want to be tied down. Now I think it might be... good for him, actually. So he can lead a life befitting a Christian gentleman."

"So you're okay with this wedding?" Godwin asked skeptically.

"Aye. 'Course I am. I reckon it's my duty to assist my lord in all things, his wedding certainly not least. I'll gladly escort him to his wedding and...."

"And then what? Drag him to his marital bed? Help him put his cock...?"

"Godwin! Fuck's sake... ugh. I really didn't need to think about that." Henry scowled miserably.

Henry was simply following the penance Godwin himself had assigned. So why did the priest feel so sick to his stomach right now? And, he wondered, how would Hans react to his page's plan to hasten the young lord's matrimony?
    --
Henry is determined to save Hans. From sin. From losing his inheritance. That means no repeats of Hans' 'encouragement' at Suchdol. And it means dragging Hans, kicking and screaming if need be, to his own wedding. But Hans Capon has had it with Henry coming to his rescue. This time, Hans doesn't want to be saved.

    Summary

“Is that what it is? A kingfisher?” Hans hums, and his head sways.
“Used to be,” Henry offers a smile he hopes is reassuring as he turns the leathery talisman in his palm. “Supposed to guard you from bad luck.”
“Oh, it didn’t do a very good job now, did it?” Hans’ eyes find his. “You and your birds, Hal… Nightingales and robins and yellowhammers.”
    “My lord.”
“Promise me, hm?” Hans smiles. “You’ll think of me each time you think of birds.”
    “Hans-”
“I reckon that’ll be plenty,” the young lord smiles again: the trickle of blood from his temple runs down his cheek. “It will work better to guard you, too, from any harm and any bad luck.”
“Hans, you need to stay awake. Please.”
“Maybe I’ll even haunt you, eh?” Something akin to a laugh erupts from his chest in a short, meagre burst. “Better than Toth, too, I promise.”

After Suchdol and all the pain and tenderness it brought, Henry of Skalitz and his lord Hans Capon of Pirkstein steal some time for themselves: as summer dies and turns to autumn, and to winter cold, they choose to court each other with great honesty and love.

Even if they wear different names and play the riskiest game of pretend Bohemia has ever seen.
