Chewing on things was something Shane had been doing for as long as he could remember. Gnawing on hoodie strings, erasers, the backs of pens. Bottle caps, when he was younger, until he got worried about damaging his teeth. His mouth guard during games, the reusable straw of his water bottle. Anything he could get his mouth on.
So when Ilya pushed a thumb into his mouth the first time they hooked up, pressed back against the wall of that hotel room, Shane got whiplash with how quickly his world seemed to flip upside down. Or maybe that was from how quickly he'd dropped to his knees.
Over the years it didn't get any better.
