Summary
Cam’s already looking at her, curious and hesitant and so, so pretty. There’s new wrinkles next to her eyes, small and blooming, that weren’t there when Rebecca had seen her last. Obviously. And Rebecca thinks about her own wrinkles, and the wrinkles that Cam will develop in five years, in ten years. The thought makes tears prick in her eyes.

Cam was a habit she didn’t want to abandon. But as the spaces grief and loss created turned too tight for Rebecca to move in, she did what every addict is almost forced to do against their will: she withdrew from her addiction.
It was the quietest of nights, the world outside her bedroom as still as a held breath. Beyond these walls, the town of Saanich slumbered, its streets deserted and its houses dark, as if time itself had paused. They weren’t making love anymore, but all the unspoken words hanging on thin air made the room pulse with an intensity that defied an otherwise lifeless and timid town.
Rebecca nestled her face in the crook of Cam’s neck, inhaling the scent of oud and fresh sex. Cam’s scent was intoxicating, to her a bittersweet ache that settled deep in her chest. She breathed her in desperately, trying to imprint the scent into memory, knowing it was a double-edged sword. The pain of this moment would come haunt her, sharp and relentless each time she’ll catch a faint whiff of it, possibly somewhere on a train in New York, or on somebody’s bed. She wasn’t sure if she could bear it, yet she persevered—a final satisfaction to an addiction.

Summary
After being arrested for various murder charges Emma, Abigail, and Kaitlyn all try to adjust to life in prison. Easier for the humans, but as someone still infected with the werewolf curse Emma finds it all a bit harder. She's more aggressive and short-tempered, not to mention she has to purposefully land herself in solitary confinement once a month. Then one of the other inmates goes after Abigail and every bit of self-restraint Emma had worked for goes right out the window.
