Quantum Entanglement: The theory that particles of the same origin, which were once connected, will forever remain connected, no matter their distance, in space and time. They become so inextricably intertwined, that scientists can not possibly think of them separately. Instead, their individual identities are replaced with an entwined whole.
Melody Jones has spent the majority of her life protecting—either herself or the limited people she cares about. In the few instances she doesn't have her shoulders braced for impact, she spends in books. In studying—not just the academic kind, the observation kind.
Connection, emotions, relationships have proven to be unnecessary. All that matters is getting the job done. Ticking off one success after another. Bachelors. Twice. Masters. PhD. She's got to use that IQ of 179 for something.
However, if she had to pick a point where she entertained the idea of connection, it would be college, circa 1999, namely one Spencer Reid.
But he's irrelevant again. He's a glimpse of softness life allowed her for a measly two years until they went their separate ways.
That is, until she saw him across the room at the BAU.

Summary
Being fairly new to BAU and working alongside a genius like Spencer Reid had been a lot to handle, not to mention the lack of sleep you were experiencing. When a stressful case has the team leaving before dawn, will your fear of inadequacy and secret feelings for a certain someone be all too much? Or will you finally know your worth?

Inspired by Phoenix - Slaughter Beach, Dog
“Sorry,” you said before standing up with the papers collected in your arms, “these are yours, I have to go”. Finally getting a look at the person you collided with, you see a tall, young man with short hair, curling gently at the ends. His eyes are dark with sleep. You notice his cheeks are bright red, from the heat or from… nevermind. Definitely from the heat, you think as you notice his outfit. Dark pants, a deep purple dress shirt, converses, and a black knitted patterned vest.

The team is assigned to a case in Philadelphia where Spencer unexpectedly runs into you. Literally. He collides into you.

Summary
❝AND I WILL KISS EVERY SINGLE SCAR ON YOUR BODY AND SOUL, TO REMIND YOU THAT LOVE DOESN'T HAVE TO HURT.❞
— Ginnie Bale
⊱✿⊰
You've sworn off relationships. Spencer’s never had one.
The moment you first enter the BAU, Spencer is inexplicably drawn to you. However, he quickly comes to find that you’re more distant than his favorite lenticular galaxy (which is approximately three hundred twenty-seven million light years away, for the record). Spencer knows better than to assume that what meets the eye—that is, a cold and painfully aloof demeanor—is all that’s to be found.
His assumption would be correct. You only keep your heart locked away in a (nearly) impenetrable fortress because you’re tired of it being mistreated. Although you’ve been deeply hurt in the past, there’s this little glimmer of hope onto which you cling desperately. The truth is, you want nothing more than to offer your trust to someone, to be completely vulnerable with them, and to feel utterly safe. Your track record of interpersonal relationships—friends, family, the like—may suggest that you’re just too jaded to love again.
Good thing that Spencer loves a challenge.
