Summary
Chuuya Nakahara was a completely ordinary guy. The only remarkable thing about him was the fact that he was top of his class in police academy — and, something most people didn't know, that he'd been hopelessly in love with his ex for the past four years. Although, to be fair, he'd made a lot of progress in rectifying that, and was sure he'd eventually be free from Dazai Osamu's influence.
That is, until he gets invited to a Halloween party, and meets the man in the flesh... wearing a mini skirt and making inappropriate advances towards Chuuya, seemingly determined to drive him mad. Then, everything goes to shit.

“Say the next part,” Chuuya murmured, right against him.
Dazai’s voice shook. “We were supposed to wait until the signal was—was—” He swallowed. “Two taps on comms. We move on thirty seconds—team enters front stairwell—backup covers from behind—”
Wrong again.
Chuuya laughed.
Then pulled back.
Dazai let out a noise—half-broken, half-pleading.
But Chuuya stood.
His voice was silk.
“Guess we start over.”
OR
Dazai purposely fails a mission because Chuuya isn’t paying attention to him. Chuuya punishes him.

Summary
It’s been a little more than a month since everything almost went to shit, since the Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia faced off against Dostoyevsky, since Yokohama almost lost its fragile, balanced peace.
And it’s also been just about a month since Ranpo emerged from Poe’s book, all pride and glowing accomplishment for solving 500 murders in a week, and just a passing comment about the other guy losing patience and starting punching people.

Chuuya emerges from Poe's book, exhausted, to discover that Dazai has been severely injured. Standing guard in the Agency's infirmary, Yosano, Kunikida, and Chuuya find unexpected common cause in their desire to keep Dazai in one piece despite his best efforts to hide his vulnerabilities from everyone around him.

"You’ll what?”
“You heard what I said, shitty Dazai. He doesn’t want you. Not a single one of them does, but I do. So you’re going to fucking stay here, because you don’t get to leave me again.”
“I’m not participating in this weird ass fantasy where we spend the rest of our lives together. I’m not him and you know it,” Dazai bites out, renewing his efforts to get out of his bindings.
Nakahara’s hand shoots out to pin him against the couch and stop his movements. “I know. Of course, I know that. But he owed me, and now he's fucking dead so you’re the one that’s going to pay on that debt. So, I am going to fucking keep you and when the times comes, I’m going to be the one kill you. You don’t have anything waiting for you out there, and you know it.”
Finally, Dazai stills. He tries to formulate a response, but he's not stupid, and there's no denying the truth. Slowly, he nods, and from above him, Nakahara grins.

toxic skk situationship breakup + ada distancing themselves + beast chuuya being pulled in from his world = dazai, desperate for some sort of affection, and finding it in the absolute worst way possible
