Millie is no stranger to devastation, abandonment, and rebuilding life after it crumbles right in front of her eyes. She has always done her best to nurture and shield her daughter Maddie from any of these horrors. Ian has recently made that complicated enough on his own, so a traumatized, primary-colored clown pulling himself out of her TV was hardly ideally timed.
