Because noticing something so small and inconsequential about her feels strangely intimate.
As if he’s unconsciously holding on to every little expression and mannerism she has without meaning to.
So he brushes the topic aside.
And as the conversation moves on, he doesn’t miss the soft exhale she lets out, or the way her shoulders droop ever so slightly in relief, a reaction that mirrors his own, albeit for completely different reasons.

Summary

When a child is abandoned by a village, he will burn it down just to feel the warmth. He knew it was wrong, but it felt so so good to chase the warmth. Once he started he couldn't stop. He was spiraling into chaos and with each escalation, he couldn't help but feel comfort in the terror he brought.
