A forgemaster creates Nightcreatures and gives them orders they are compelled to obey. The Nightcreatures are primarily ordered to do what armies do. They invade, they attack, they bring more bodies back to their masters. But not every Nightcreature is assigned that duty. A Forgemaster has better things to do than cook or clean or build, but still, all those things are must-haves for a human making its way in the world. So what's a Forgemaster to do? Command a Nightcreature to become the best chef it can possibly be, so that the Forgemaster can eat like a king at every meal. But what happens to that creature when its master dies?
