Summary
Last month I watched the 1954 Sherlock Holmes starring Ronald Howard and Howard Marion-Crawford, and I rather fell in love with it. While watching, I couldn’t help constructing my own interpretations/headcannons regarding how and when Holmes and Watson’s relationship developed during the series. Therefore, each chapter in this fic focuses on one or two key moments from an episode, moving through the series chronologically and attempting to get at what might be hidden behind the open smiles and eager adventuring and occasional covert glance. It is a story about how I imagine those moments affected the characters, and ultimately led to a relationship that at the time could not be confirmed on screen, however extravagantly it was implied.
Although familiarity with the episodes would fill in the details, you do not need to watch the series for this fic to make sense. Whatever context you bring to the story, I hope you enjoy it!

Summary
Last year I discovered a 1954 TV adaption of Sherlock Holmes produced by Sheldon Reynolds and starring Ronald Howard and Howard Crawford, fell irrevocably in love, and promptly scoured the internet for gifs, fic, and commentary. At my estimation it took under 4 hours to exhaust my sources. This is troubling, to say the least. So I've decided to do something about it: I have excavated my documents of extensive notes, and I will be embarking on an overly detailed episode-by-episode meta about the series, mostly about it’s gayness. Also other stuff, but mostly that. This will continue until I have commented on every episode—or until I abandon the project, which given my track record is far more likely. But there will still be more material about this gem out in the world then when I began, and that’s the main thing.

Finding Holmes prostrate on the floor of that accursed tower room made my blood run cold. He was alone in the room and the door had been locked from the inside, and for a moment, I feared the legend had been true after all, and that Holmes was well and truly dead.
