Summary
“Easy now, Your Grace. You’ll make the claim wound worse, and it’s ugly enough already. I’ve seen dogs mark each other gentler.”
Ser Duncan the Tall should have died at Ashford. Instead, he won—and in doing so, committed a greater offense: he put his teeth to a Targaryen prince. What passed between him and Prince Aerion refuses to stay buried. As whispers spread and the crown moves to contain what it cannot name, Dunk finds himself bound to the very man he should fear most—and cannot seem to leave.

Summary
"I’m not a man in the habit of repeating myself, but I’ll indulge you just this once,” Maekar rumbled. “I can’t decide if I want to fight you or fuck you, Ser Duncan, but Aegon will be cross if he learns we’ve come to blows with one another, even if it was in the training yard.”
“Don’t much imagine he would be any better if he found out the latter, my lord.”
Ser Duncan is due at Summerhall, and Maekar thinks back on how he and the hedge knight worked through their animosity. Meanwhile, an unexpected raven brings Baelor some unwelcome tidings.

Summary
Dunk was a simple hedge knight trying to make a name for himself, prove himself and become a man his soulmates could be proud of.
His first tournament after his mentor died, however, swiftly had his plans going by the wayside when he immediately earns the ire of draconic princes.
What was an elm against dragon claws and fire?
But perhaps this fire burning him up inside was not malicious, and perhaps those claws did not mean to rend flesh.

Summary
A Prince’s duty is to the Realm. That is what his mother always tells Jacaerys. It is what her father, the King, always tells her, as she is his heir.
They all have parts to play in the union of the Seven Kingdoms. They must play it and do it well to secure a good reign.
The King's duty is to rule with justice, always with his subjects on his mind.
The Crown Princess’ duty is to learn from the old King, to acquire the same level of wisdom and to bring new heirs into the world. It’s what the late Queen always told her, “childbed is our battlefield.”
The Prince’s duty is to serve his King and Princess, learn from them and sacrifice himself for the well of the Realm.
Jacaerys will do his duty, as he is the Crown Prince, heir to the Iron Throne after his mother, Crown Princess Rhaenyra. He must complete his task. No one in the Red Keep will accept failure, Jacaerys himself will not accept failure.
So when he is sent as a gift to the Lord of Winterfell, he feels humiliated, but does not dare to utter his shame. He thinks of his grandmother, the late Queen’s words, and concludes that Lord Stark’s bed is his battlefield, and he will face it with a stiff lip.
