    Summary

“Why bring her to me?” She was not a savior, she was a monster. Every day she carried the broken pieces of stone birds into her temple and mended them with clay and twine. The few animals she kept have had their sight removed, yet they nuzzled into her hand all the same. Her garden flourished, because it could not see the cruelty of the face of the one who tended to it. The island had been pristine when she had found it. Alive. Thriving.

The Nereid only tilted her head, sea-weed dark hair sliding wetly across her shoulders and throat. “Her quest was to find you.”

“Find me?” She scoffed. “People find me for one reason only.”

“To kill you?” grinned Zoey. It was a feral thing, revealing rows of serrated teeth. The illusion of a beautiful woman suddenly replaced by something wild, something dangerous. How apt.

She shook her head morosely. “To die.”

The Greek Mythology AU where Rumi is Perseus, sent to slay Mira as Medusa, but Zoey, daughter of the ocean, is tired of tragedies, and manipulates fate just enough to get something entirely different. This is a tale of how three women find each other despite their destinies, and build a love strong enough to defy the gods.

    Summary

It doesn’t know exactly when it started to understand.

At some point, when it’s maybe fifteen, it wonders—because it’s not as if it doesn’t hear people calling it “she” pretty much every day. Hadn’t it heard that as a kid as well? Even when it didn’t really interact with anyone, when it was too young to be around people, when there wasn’t really anyone talking about it. So it’s not like anyone has ever actually called it “it,” even though that’s what’s accurate since it isn’t a she. It can’t be—because it isn’t human. It’s a demon. It’s a monster.

    Summary

It feels like being turned inside out, like every cell in her body is being torn apart and put back together wrong. The warehouse disappears into a blur of color and sound and then she's there, directly between Mira and the demon, close enough to see the surprise in Mira's eyes.

The demon's swing catches Rumi square in the ribs. She feels the impact, feels something crack deep inside, multiple somethings, bones splintering like dry wood, and then she's flying.

Or: Rumi would die a thousand times to keep her girls safe, and that's exactly what terrifies Mira most.

    Summary

When Mira says something she maybe (definitely) shouldn't in the throes of passion, it leads to a surprising confession from Rumi. Rumi, who can and does come. Rumi, who can and does come only when she is alone and at her own hand...and who would like to be able to eventually come with her girlfriends and under their tender (and enthusiastic) attention.

    //

The rest of Rumi's words are lost in a mumble.

    'What was that?'

'She said,' Zoey translates again, seeming delighted to be the conveyor of good news, 'that it was fine! When you asked her to come inside of you,' she adds, in case Mira had forgotten.

    She hadn't.

And neither had the rest of her body, which gives another delicious full-body shiver at the thought.

    Summary

Zoey and Mira have always been Rumi’s cosmic complements: the higher and lower harmonies that form a perfect triad with her every time they’re in sync. The warmest chord she’s ever heard—intended, euphonious, side by side by side. Inyeon.

Jinu wasn’t like that. He… he was her, just mirrored back. Her dark reflection, an octave down.

The first person she’d ever met in her life who’d rhymed.

[or: after Namsan Tower, Rumi must contend with who she is, who she wants to be, how she communicates, what the girls mean to her, and what Jinu means to her, too... especially considering how she might have eaten his soul, and all.]
