Everything’s good, you see. It's absolutely fine. Laios dreams of kissing and stroking monsters all the time. Clearly this is a completely normal monsterfucking dream, and Laios just has to look down to find that Kabru has tentacles again, or double scorpion stingers for legs. Or perhaps he’s a faun, or a satyr - or a centaur, or an ichthyocentaur, or maybe even a beastkin who’ll transform any minute now…
Laios looks down.
No, he thinks, in dawning horror. No, no, that can’t be.
Because all he sees is regular tallman Kabru. All he's dreaming of is regular tallman Kabru, tender and unguarded, curled up in his bed.
Inveterate monsterfucker Laios Touden discovers, to his immense surprise, that he’s fallen in love with a human.

Summary
When he closes his eyes, he sees a portrait. The one of Laios, sat on his throne, dressed in his finery. Sometimes it feels like it’s painted inside his eyelids or framed somewhere on the back of his skull. It’s an image Kabru has always liked, ever since the day it got hung up. The king’s likeness captured near perfectly, with all his nervous edges buffed out. He looks like he belongs there.

Summary
Kabru finds his eyes glued to the video. Most people who defend monsters online, he’s found, know shit about them. They live in sheltered cities, far away from any actual dungeons, and the closest they’ve come to seeing a real monster is in an Elven-made VR game. They’ve never died from a basilisk’s fangs in their throat.
But this guy seems different.
Kabru taps over to the comment section of the video. Normally he avoids them, but this might actually be relevant to his research.

Summary
There are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargain, depression, and acceptance.
In some ways, it made sense that Kabru went over those stages when he started to acknowledge his attraction to Laios, it was, after all, the death of his dignity and self respect.
