Catra is at her lowest point having been publicly excommunicated from the Horde. Adora is at her lowest point having destroyed She-Ra’s sword to save the universe. Tempers are high and the risk of loss is low. They run into each other in the whispering woods and finally have the conversation they’ve needed to have all along. Feelings are hashed out. Feelings are hurt.. but then maybe they’ll find some common ground to stand on.

Alternate ending - This is my take on season 5 starting from the end of season 4. A couple changes to start off with - Catra doesn’t get teleported up to Horde Prime’s ship, neither does Glimmer. After their fight, Glimmer teleports back with Bow to the city to assess the damage of the latest battle while Catra escapes to the whispering woods.

Summary
Catra clenches her fists. She won’t let it happen. She won’t endanger their future. “We can’t change anything. We’ll just have to wait, and do everything the same way we did before.”
Adora grabs Catra’s shoulders. Her grip is so tight, it’s nearly painful. “But do you realize what that means for us? Playing along. Letting things go the exact same way as before–”
Catra’s expression darkens. “I know,” she says, struggling to keep her voice from trembling. “You’ll have to leave. We’ll have to be enemies again.”

Years after defeating Horde Prime, Catra and Adora inexplicably wake up in the past—on the day that Adora first found the sword. If they're going to make it back to the present, they'll have to relive their past from start to finish, pretending to be enemies despite being in love. Despite being married. Despite knowing exactly how the story ends.But it's not easy, waging war against the person you love most.

Summary
There’s not a living person in all of Etheria who can recall the last time that Bright Moon held two princesses in the royal family. It was a wholesome sight- there were more celebrations and greater royal hijinks but most importantly, the family had never been so complete. It only made the arrival of Horde Prime and subsequent abduction of both princesses all the more devastating.

Legs hanging over the edge, a cool breeze touching their faces, Catra’s tail wrapped tightly around Adora’s waist, Adora’s hand over Catra’s between them. Their old platform has been renovated and doesn’t look like it’s gonna crumble into pieces at any second anymore.
“Do you know why I always came up here?” Catra asks her, voice low and soft.
“Because no one could find you?”
“Because only you could find me.”
