Taking place after "On the Horizon", Commander Jane Shepard continues her pursuit and investigates threats of the Reapers without Commander Lieutenant (and boyfriend) Kaidan Alenko at her side. Per Captain Anderson's orders, they cannot work together so long as they are romantically involved.
During her investigations, the Normandy comes in contact with an enemy vessel that begins firing upon them immediately. After ensuring her crew is safe, Jane is the last survivor of the Normandy to board the escape pod - or so she thought.
This story is an alternative take on Mass Effect 2. My standalone fic titled "This Is It" is what started and inspired the story you are about to read. I hope you enjoy, and please check out "On the Horizon" if you haven't.
