Faramir travels in Boromir's stead to Imladris, there he joins in the Council of Elrond and becomes part of the Fellowship of the Ring. Similar to Tolkien's own style, the perspective will change back and forth between Faramir's account of events and Boromir's. Maglor was not good with children, exactly. That had always been his elder brother’s purview. But Maglor had raised or helped to raise half a dozen children. Those instincts didn’t go away, even after so many centuries unused.
He knelt beside the sobbing boy on the beach, bringing his face down level with the mortal child’s. “Are you hurt, little one?” He shook his head. “Are you lost?” No. “Do you just need to cry for a moment? It’s okay if you do. Everyone needs to cry sometimes.”
Those little hands pulled away from his mouth for a moment. “Not m’brother. He never needs to cry. He’s not weak like me.” He sniffled.
