Ni-ki didn’t plan on attending the reunion. He definitely didn’t plan on seeing Sunoo, or on the way old feelings rush in like a tide he can’t stop. The past was supposed to stay quiet. It doesn’t.

"Ni-ki." Sunoo says, and his voice is exactly as Ni-ki remembers. "Wow. It's been a while."
Like they're old classmates. Old acquaintances. Like they didn't spend two years joined at the hip, like Ni-ki didn't know every sound Sunoo made when he laughed, like Sunoo didn't used to look at him like he was the only person in the world worth looking at.
"Yeah." Ni-ki manages. His voice sounds far away. "It has."
