    In 2017, Shane and Ilya ended their not-relationship for good.

    All because Grigori Rozanov is alive and well, and Ilya Rozanov’s life is still held under this thumb.

    3 years later, unbeknownst to each other, they are both traded to Ottawa.
    Shane, involuntarily, is ousted from Montreal after his teammates discover his biggest secret.
    Ilya, voluntarily, chooses to tank his career and take a salary cut in the hopes it will free him from the burdens of his family’s dependence on him.

    Both are ready to start fresh. Both want their freedom. Both are wholly unprepared for the resurgence of the feelings they’ve kept buried once they see their names side by side in the Centaur’s locker room.

    “Rozanov, Ilya-- can you hear me? Fuck! Are you okay?” He asked, frantic. There was so much blood, people were running towards them. He could hear phones being dialled, could feel the presence of others around them.

    Ilya’s eyes were open, but it was as if he were looking past him, up towards the sky above. He coughed once and blood sputtered out, dribbling down his face "Mama." He said softly.

    Since Shane was a young boy he has been able to rewind time. He had never done it for anything huge, just small things here and there.

    Then Ilya Rozanov died in front of him.

    Despite being projected as at least a top-three pick, Shane Hollander slips to 57th overall after a Grade III ankle ligament tear sustained in the World Junior Hockey Championships earlier this year.

    BOSTON BEARS SELECT ROZANOV FIRST OVERALL, HOLLANDER IN SECOND ROUND
    Boston bets on two of juniors' most electric players; one a sure thing, one a gamble. The Bears have never minded those.

    Shane Hollander did not get drafted to Montreal. He gets drafted to Boston, fifty-seventh overall, after #1 draft pick, Ilya Rozanov. He has a plan for that. The plan does not account for Ilya Rozanov being the way that Ilya Rozanov is.
