“You saved my life,” Grover said, coming up to stand next to me with the box in his hands, “I.. well, the least I could do… I went back and got you this.”
Reverently, he dropped the shoe box in Percy lap. The demigod set the nectar down on the table once it was all gone, strength renewed to deal with the insanity happening right in front of him. He gently open the box up and when he saw what was inside, he dropped it and buried his head in his hands.
That damned horn.
“Is this a prank?” He asked, his voice now hoarse from the emotions claiming up his throat rather than from his terrible night, “The Minotaur.”
“um, It isn’t a good idea to say his name out loud-“
“Let him hear.” Percy scowled, standing up from the chair, holding the shoe box in a tight angry grip.

Percy lied.
He promised he wouldn’t leave her! Not after being gone for half a year thanks to the Queen of Gods. He promised!
But the fates are cruel. And now here he was, going through literal Hell with two people he calls his friend and not Annabeth.
They are his friends right?
He has only known the Son of Jupiter for a little bit, and Roman or no, they have gotten each other out of problems. I mean, they were able to create a hurricane for the Gods’ sake!
But what about the Son of Hades? While knowing him for longer than Jason, Nico lied to his face. Kept Camp Half Blood in the dark about Camp Jupiter. Didn’t tell Annabeth where he was immediately.
No, Nico was still his friend. It was the Gods that were at fault, making him keep that secret. Percy needed to protect Nico, like he failed to do with his sister.
We are going to get out of this. We need to defeat Gaea. And to do that, we need to close the Doors of Death, so that those that die, stay dead.

Hermes’ expression shifted, something raw and angry rising to the surface, and Nico knew he had to tread carefully. The god's voice was cold as ice when he asked, “You think I don’t care?”
Nico shook his head slowly. “Love isn’t just a word you say when it’s convenient. Love is showing up when it matters. Love is not abandoning someone when they need you most. Love is...” He trailed off, his jaw tightening. There was a part of him that wanted him to stop, but he couldn’t. “Love is everything you failed to give him.”
When Hermes decided to reconnect with his dead son, Nico ended up being reluctantly drawn into something far more complicated than he had ever anticipated.
Or: Every demigod learned one lesson early in life: never get involved with a god. And yet, against all better judgment, Nico found himself doing exactly that.

this is a canon rewrite from when the seven broke nico out of the jar. i read the books ages ago and i wont be rereading them for this so if something is wrong then who cares its literally a fic - my writing is absolutely horrible but i've had this idea for a while and it needs to be out there
