Summary
When Bella Swan moves to Forks, she isn’t the only newcomer in town. Her cousin*, Katherine (a post-grad PhD in folklore) returns to her childhood home after many years away to investigate the supernatural legends of the Pacific Northwest that have captivated her since she was a small child. Funded by a generous research grant, Katherine is determined to record stories of the supernatural that have lingered in the town since its existence. And while Charlie struggles to connect with his daughter, it’s Katherine, the niece he raised after his brother’s death, who quietly steps in to help.
But while Katherine is methodical, nothing could prepare her for the moment she meets him—the enigmatic doctor at Forks Hospital, who seems to have stepped straight out of the novels and legends she studies.
As Bella begins to notice strange things about the Cullen family, Katherine finds herself tangled in her own set of mysteries—ones that feel far too familiar to the folktales she’s spent her life studying.
Some stories are meant to be studied. Others? Lived.
*In this universe, Charlie had an older brother who passed away and left behind a daughter that Charlie raised as his own. Esme also does not exist.

Summary
Two years before Bella moved back to Forks to live with her father, her older sister Briar fled as far and as fast away from the town as she could. She vowed to herself not to return, but when Charlie starts to call her about the worries he has regarding the boy that Bella starts dating, well, she doesn’t really have a choice now, does she?
Upon her return, she does agree that there’s something off about that Edward kid. Not only that, but he’s got a piercing gaze that seems to be eerily familiar…
She tries to convince herself it’s impossible. There’s no way Edward could be related to the reason she disappeared all those years ago. But with the way he keeps looking at her almost knowingly and the nervous glances her dad throws her every time she and Edward are in a room together as if he’s just waiting for a shoe to drop, she’s starting to believe there’s a joke happening and she’s the last person to be let in on it.
This is a re-work of my story Flying in Reverse. I did not end up liking the direction I was headed with it and decided to take some time away to make it better. I hope you all like this one just as much!

“Egg drop?” she offers, a little too quickly. “That’s still in the same realm of Newton’s Laws.”
He deadpans, “You would prefer to make a parachute for an egg?”
She nods without missing a beat.She’d pay good money to see Edward Cullen dodging eggs raining down on that wild head of bronze hair from the vantage point of her second-story bedroom window. It’s revenge, she decides. For lying in wait with her mom at the hospital yesterday. For backing her into a corner until she had no choice but to agree to this. He’ll live if he gets a bit of egg on him.
Almost as if sensing her thoughts, he frowns. It looks out of place on him, carving faint lines into his otherwise perfect face that don’t quite belong there. In fact, it makes him look a little less handsome. Beth would love it if he frowned more. She’d feel a lot less intimidated by him. Or maybe that has more to do with the fact that he’s going to marry her cousin and play a hand in Renaissance's traumatic birth.

Summary
Not necessarily an ideal situation but I'm willing to try and find the positives. At least so I can have something pleasant to look forward to. Being Bella Swan was an unexpected challenge but, you know, it could have been worse. I could have been reborn into Twilight without knowing anything about anything and have to stumble my way through like Bella had!
This was... fine.
