Dennis was scared. He was deeply and utterly scared, shaken to his bones. He had been in situations like this before but this one felt different...maybe because he had gathered some self-respect by now, maybe because the man seemed too big, too mature...not like the boys his age from church, that had cornered him back at home ...He desperately tried to make eye contact with anyone, hoping they would see the fear in his eyes and somehow help, but who was he kidding, this was a club in the city and everyone had better things to do than be on the lookout for some poor soul who needed help, for a pathetic child like him who couldn't even stand up for himself.

Something’s wrong with Dennis.
It starts small, just little things that Robby hardly registers at first. It’s a busy day, it’s been a busy week, so when it vaguely ticks that Dennis is a little quieter than usual during rounds, fumbling his notes, missing cues he normally catches, he doesn’t actually think twice about it.
Nor how when Robby asks him a question about a patient’s chart, and Dennis blinks like he’s been startled awake.
