He has this problem. Things catch his eye. He had to take the air freshener off the rearview mirror of his car. The little silver bead drove him fucking crazy to the point he thought it was becoming a traffic hazard. He has to divert his eye when he steps into the lobby of the rink because of that one time the sun shone through the window and hit the glass of the vending machine in a way that made him squint and lose his breath. Light catching the plastic yellow wrapper of some snack bar he can’t even watch Hayden eat anymore.

Summary
Aaron didn’t know exactly how he expected it to start, just that it would. Eventually. Probably sooner rather than later. It was why he called the police on his wedding day – that and it wasn’t a Dingle wedding if someone didn’t.
He bought himself some time. Not a lot, not enough. The sudden reversal of time apart from Robert being in short supply made blood rush to his head, an uptick in his heart rhythm whenever he let himself think about it.
But of all the things to start it, Aaron wouldn’t have guessed it would be the wing mirrors going missing off of John’s van.

“I told ya – people don't stay with me, and you still left me!”
He watches as a myriad of emotions flit over Robert's face – anger, devastation, hurt, and usually, at this point in their dance, Robert deflates, says you know why. But tonight, the dance changes pace, Robert crowds in impossibly closer, lips curled up in a snarl.
“And I told you: people don't forgive me, and you still haven't!” Robert hurls back, and Aaron takes a step back at the fury in Robert's voice like he got punched.
“Because ya left, Robert!” Aaron explodes. “You shut me out! You're the love of my life and you left me behind! You divorced me without –“ Aaron stops. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Robert was giving him a look, that look. It was as if Robert could tear Aaron open and peek inside him before patching him back up with just that one look. It left him feeling exposed and vulnerable and it was a scary, exhilarating feeling all in one.
“You said I'm the love of your life, as in present tense, like I'm still the love of your life.” Robert says with a grin, more of a smirk, really, with so much satisfaction and joy in his voice, Aaron is torn between kissing him and punching him.
