Summary
In late October, Ilya picks up some kind of freakish Canadian flu that dogs him into November.
It is the weirdest shit. He has to duck out of practice because his nose starts bleeding twice in one week and he wakes up in a hotel in Columbus with another one that leaves stains on the pillow. On the flight back to Ottawa, Hazy drops into the seat next to Ilya midflight and asks, "This isn't, like, a cocaine thing, right?"
Ilya laughs so hard it's probably a little rude.
They have a plan. Ilya's body has a different plan.

Summary
Shane Hollander has spent his whole life translating himself for a world that moves too fast and cares too little about the right things. Ilya Rozanov has never needed anyone to wait for him. Spring training gave them five weeks, a back field no one was watching, and a private language neither of them named.
It wasn’t supposed to mean anything. A pitcher and a catcher from rival organizations, learning each other’s signals. Convenient. Temporary. Easy to leave behind.
It wasn’t easy to leave behind.
Now they’re both in the Majors – Boston and New York, red and pinstripes, opposite sides of the oldest war in baseball – facing each other eighteen times a season in front of a country that has opinions about this rivalry. Every at-bat is a negotiation between what they know about each other and what they’re not allowed to want. The chemistry that made them brilliant in secret could unravel everything in public.
A slow burn about longing, bad timing, and the unbearable intimacy of knowing exactly how someone throws.
