Summary
He thought that he would have to run out of people soon. Surely, there had to be a finite number of queer men in the area, and he’d run out of options eventually. Then, he could really delete the app, and accept his life as a perpetual bachelor and probable hermit.
He should have known. In retrospect, he should have fucking known it was only a matter of time.
Shane was swiping mindlessly, leaning against his kitchen island, killing time before he left for work, when a new profile popped up across his feed. He recognized him instantly from that stupid mirror selfie, one that he had sent Shane right after he had taken it in some shitty coffee shop bathroom downtown.
He’d know him anywhere.
Or, Shane keeps seeing his ex on dating apps, and it's driving him insane.

Summary
“Have you ever?”
Shane glanced at him, as though looking at him for too long was too much of a temptation.
“What?”
“Violated your vows?”
He watched his breath speed up. It would be imperceptible if Ilya wasn’t so focused on every detail of him.
“No,” he said too quickly, so Ilya knew it was a lie. He leaned forward, so close that his chest brushed his shoulder.
“You are a bad liar, Father.”
Or, a sinner and a priest fall for each other in a house of God.

Summary
“You’re being difficult.”
“I am not being difficult, Hollander, you are the one being difficult and annoying.”
“I just don’t see what the big deal is,” Shane had his phone pressed between his ear and his shoulder as he moved around his kitchen, making breakfast, “It’s not like it’s some kind of classified information.”
“Is just not important,” Ilya said evasively, and Shane could hear the sound of his fridge opening on the other end.
“I think your birthday is very important,” Shane said stubbornly, setting his glass down a little harder than he meant to, so that it clacked against the countertop, “I don’t know why you’re acting like this about it.”

Summary
He wanted to bury his face in the juncture between his neck and shoulder, to breathe in the smell of him, to touch his skin and give him everything that he could. He wanted to give to him until there was nothing left, until Shane had disappeared into him forever.
“Look at me,” Ilya’s voice was quiet, but Shane obeyed immediately, his eyes fuzzy at the corners, “How are you feeling?”
Shane intended to lie. There was no reason to complicate things with hard truths that not even he understood. Instead, his lip wobbled, and he found that he couldn’t say anything at all.
“Ah,” Ilya made a noise that sounded nearly as devastated as Shane felt, and put a hand on the back of his neck, pulling him forward. Shane went easily, his forehead pressing into Ilya’s shoulder, and breathing deeply through his nose, trying not to cry.
Or, Shane drops after leaving Ilya's house.

Summary
“Do you really need all these pins?” Shane asked, watching Ilya carefully select the fourth box back in the row, which apparently gave him more luck, “You’ve already gotten like five boxes.”
“But I want the dog,” Ilya said, looking at Shane as though he was the one who had lost his mind.
“You got a dog!”
“No, I want this dog,” he tapped the box impatiently, “What is his name?”
“Pluto,” Shane said automatically, “He was my favorite as a kid.”
“See? That is one I want.”
