He looks down at the open cookbook on the counter. The pages are splattered with sauces and spices, the mess sitting in the sink not quite matching the picture in the book. He slams it shut and shoves it in a drawer. His mother insists that if he just keeps practicing, he’ll eventually get the hang of it. Ten years of trying later, he’s convinced he’s a lost cause. He looks over at the steaming pan now soaking in his kitchen sink and scowls. He’ll just order a damn pizza.
