Summary
You've been on your feet most of a 12 hour shift when you see the news broadcast of a fight downtown flash across the TV screen. Another hero getting his ass beat to save the city and another late night for you in the ER. Suddenly you recognize his suit before anyone says his name. By the time ambulances arrive you have a job to do, but you never thought it would involve restarting a heart you were never supposed to know and keeping a secret you thought you would die with. Weeks pass as he lies in a coma but you just can't stay away from his chart.
When he finally does wake up, it isn't relief that he now faces, it's you: angry but professional, and standing way too close to a past you buried that is very much alive again.
