Summary
When artist-turned-office-worker Phainon attends the funeral of his former mentor, the infamously uncompromising painter Anaxagoras, the last thing he expects is to see the man’s ghost standing beside the casket. Trapped in limbo with “unfinished business” Anaxa is convinced the key to moving past this life lies somewhere in his chaotic artistic legacy.
Phainon, unconvinced, ends up dragging the stubborn spirit through experiences Anaxa never let himself have in life, hoping they might find answers there instead. As they retrace the shape of something they’d lost and thought was long gone between them, Anaxa begins to wonder if what’s keeping him here might have little to do with the work he left behind after all.

Sometimes the consultant watches. He closes his eyes when you deliver the final blow. He tells you that they're still people, though criminals. You wish he would watch everything. You want him to think you unclean. You want him to know what you are.

"No you may not," says Zhongli. He may nurse a certain admiration for this faerie, but he knows better than to lose at the unseelie's games. "You may call me Zhongli."
The faerie smiles again, still somehow unnatural.
"You're a smart one," he says, and something in Zhongli's chest flutters for reasons he cannot begin to guess at.
He steps closer, close enough that Zhongli can feel his breath on his face and see the little icicles that form on his pretty eyelashes.
"You may call me Childe," he says. "Come see me again, would you?"

It’s one thing to dole it out, to be the one to watch as life slips out of the eyes of his opponents. There is a certain satisfaction in that, and one he doesn’t feel entirely clean for. But it’s not that which he minds, really—what he hates about death is when it becomes personal.

Kaeya sighs, and stares out over the violence before them. Nobody has ever understood why he does what he does, but-

Childe nods sagely. "I think I understand– you know, in the underworld, there's all these souls waiting on their loved ones, and even more who died happy because they were with someone they cared about when they passed. Love transcends death."
