Summary
Evelyn has been unwanted in two lives.
After dying to stop a terrorist from escaping, she is reborn in a poor village where her red hair marks her as cursed. When sickness kills her parents and leaves her alive, the villagers blame her. Years later, desperate to appease raiding centaurs, they bind Evelyn in the forest as a tribute bride.
But the centaur who finds her is not a raider.
Caevan, King of the Centaurs, hates humans more than anyone. He severed the ancient bride-bonds between their peoples and has no desire to restore them. Yet the exiles terrorizing human villages are his problem, and leaving a bound woman to die is beneath even his hatred.
Now Evelyn is under the protection of the very king who should despise her. And by bringing home the first human bride his people have seen in generations, Caevan may have started the very war he severed the bride-bonds to prevent.
