Summary
Was talking always this exhausting? She honestly hasn’t been on enough dates in recent years to compare. Unbidden, her mind drifts to the little bench that forms a right angle out the back entrance of The Bear, and the not-cigarette breaks she takes there. She’s never tired after those: Carmy knows she can be grumpy and awkward and silent during a long day of work, and he likes talking to her anyway.

Sydney's going on dates. Carmy is not jealous. They're both nailing this "being normal" thing.

Summary
“At the base of the well, Dante finds himself within a large frozen lake: Cocytus, the Ninth Circle of Hell. Trapped in the ice, each according to his guilt, are punished sinners, guilty of treachery against those with whom they had special relationships.”
He tastes bile - spends the rest of night throwing up the invisible contents of his empty stomach.
It’s the Ninth Circle. The last one. The one that’s frozen.
Which is a small mercy, he thinks. At least he can fall no further.

Summary
What is he to her anyway? He feels like her boss when he tells her what to do. When he doesn’t break eye contact as he asks for her input on the new menu, he feels like a business partner. When his hand ghosts against her lower back and his thumb slips under her sweatshirt, it’s an accident. He was just trying to get by; just a polite nudge, right?
(Little blurbs of Carmy and Syd falling in love and being idiots about it)

Summary
“Kaz.” She was frustrated at his self-deprecation. “Please understand. My mind wants you. My heart longs for you. My body…” She struggled for words, the shame rising again, threatening her eyes with tears. “My body isn’t entirely convinced something horrible isn’t going to happen again. This wasn’t because of you. You understand that, don’t you?”
Inej begins to reckon with her own armor so she can have what, and who, she wants.
