    "You flinched,” Hudson spits, anger hardening his voice. As if the words are a call to motion, Connor’s face pinches around a barely contained wince. “We said we wouldn’t, and you did.”

    “And the worst part,” Hudson continues much more subdued, “is that it’s not even about them, is it?” He gestures vaguely, hand moving through the air, somehow managing to convey exactly what his words don’t. The fans. The media. He shakes his head. “It’s about him.”

    Despite numerous promises that they'd never allow outside perceptions to alter their dynamic, fame and scrutiny changes everything.
