“Is that an invite?” Ilya hummed, lips twitching with a smile.
Shane faltered. “I-”
“Relax Hollander. Is just a joke.”
Obviously. Of course it was a joke. The idea of Ilya sitting down for dinner with his parents was ridiculous. Impossible.
When Montreal is hit by a bad storm on the night of their game, Ilya thinks Shane might let him stay the night. What neither of them knows is that Shane's parents, also caught in the storm, have had the same idea.

Before Felix could remove his headphones, he heard it. Heavy, borderline panicked breaths. Felix realized that it must be Hollander. His mic was not turned off when he left the interview. Footsteps. And then a door opening and closing. They had filmed the interview that morning at the offices of the Irina Foundation. It sounded like maybe he had gone into his office.
“Hey, what is it? What is wrong?” Another voice. Unmistakable anywhere. Even if Felix hadn’t spent weeks now listening to it, he would still have recognized Ilya Rozanov’s voice.

What if the filmmaker making the documentary about Hollander and Rozanov discovered the truth about their relationship. So he approaches Shane and Ilya about filming them over the course of the 2020/2021 season to create an honest documentary that tells the true story of their lives. Summary
Cliff Marleau has known about Ilya Rozanov’s relationship since Ilya was twenty-two.
It’s not like it was complicated to put the pieces together, is the thing. When it all comes out in public, the Raiders have various different meltdowns – Twitter explodes in a way that is sort of unprecedented, and breaks out of the hockey specific Twitter spaces the same way that the Scott Hunter thing did. There’s shitty headlines and queer space headlines, and it’s a whole thing. And Cliff is pretty sure he’s the person least surprised about it.
But here’s the thing. Cliff Marleau has known Ilya Rozanov since the kid was eighteen.
