She presses her lips together. Why should she believe him now? Just because she wants it to be true still doesn’t mean he is being truthful. Then again, she supposes he’s never lied to her outright. Maybe he kept things from her, but he was technically always honest.

She’s not sure what he’s referring to, but she listens. Walks back to the camp without so much as another word between them. Not even a glance. She doesn’t look again until she’s sitting on her bedroll and the Ghoul is just a shadow in the distance.

Cooper watches Lucy most of the night. Can’t help himself. He never thought they’d have nights like this again. Never anticipated she’d actually forgive him. Then again, she hasn’t outright forgiven him just yet, but he gets the sense she’s not angry anymore. For whatever godforsaken reason. He doesn’t deserve her kindness. Her empathy.
He almost forgets about the goddamn tin soldier until he wakes up. Cooper quickly sits back, crossing his legs at his ankles and covering his face with his hat.

AKA, after a few weeks apart, cooper and dogmeat cross paths with lucy and maximus which turns into all of them traveling together seeing as they seem to temporarily be going in the same direction...which then turns into cooper and lucy having to confront feelings they never imagined they'd have

Lucy and The Ghoul finally reach New Vegas. It isn't what they were expecting which adds further questions to the ones they already have. The Ghoul unexpectedly reunites with an old friend from before the Great War who they can stay with. This old friend is also the wife of a rather flirty and chem addicted charismatic ghoul who takes a liking to Lucy.
Their main aim may be to find Hank MacLean and uncover Vault-Tec's secrets but along the way, New Vegas awakens something within the two. Is it lust? Is it....Love? Or perhaps both. They could fight it, or they could just help themselves and everyone around them by giving in?
