Ever since the events of his fourth year, Harry Potter has been drowning. He’d already been struggling for years, and a mixture of fresh trauma, mounting pressure, and disturbing nightmares is pushing him closer and closer to the edge.
His friends see him falling apart more and more, but they’re powerless to help him. The adults in his life are willing to turn a blind eye to his ever-increasing issues, so long as they’re able to maintain their idea of a savior and keep their plans in place.When Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts, Severus Snape's life became exponentially harder as he tried to field threats against a boy he didn’t even like and take up spy work again at the same time. With the return of the Dark Lord, Severus also suddenly had to work to protect his godson from the threat looming over them; if Draco fell into the Dark Lord’s hands like his father, he would never escape.
Severus is content to allow the obvious problems rising in Potter to be addressed by the boy’s other teachers, and the people who cared for him. He no longer has to stay at the Dursley's, but Dumbledore tells him he has to stay with Severus Snape. For a few days it seemed like a bad idea. Until Severus Snape uncovers the truth of who Harry Potter really is and what he's been through. Watch as Severus does as nobody else has done before him. He takes care of Harry. Watch him flourish into who he was meant to be, a boy with the heart of a Gryffindor and smarts of a Slytherin. The Dursley's, Umbridge and Dumbledore had better watch out Severus is out for revenge. Spy or no spy, Severus is not allowing anyone away with hurting Harry.

Summary
After seven-year-old Harry Potter runs away from his relatives' home for the sixth time, Albus decides something drastic must happen. Instead of sending a friendly witch from family services like he had done before, he sends Severus Snape in hopes of scaring the boy into staying put. But when a storm interferes with plans, Severus realizes why Harry runs away and a change of plans ensues.
A response to a Potions and Snitches challenge: Runaway, by nnjj - A pre-Hogwarts Harry Potter is unhappy at his relatives' house and keeps running away. So far Dumbledore has sent Lupin or a nice witch from family services to retrieve him, but to no use. Stronger measures are needed for Harry to stay put and he decides to enlist Severus' services to scare the boy into staying put. Once Severus retrieves the boy they are forced to spend a certain amount of time together before it is possible to return him to Privet Drive. Will Severus notice that something is not right in the boy's home? What will Dumbledore do if his plan fails?
