Summary
“It seemed Pony had rendered Sodapop Curtis, notorious motor mouth, silent.
Pony felt a blush creep up her neck, burning her up. She picked at a scab on her nails. ‘I, uh, got sick of my hair. So I cut it.’
Soda blinked. ‘Cut. It,’ he tested the words out numbly. Like it didn’t compute. Then, he ran a hand through his own un-greased hair. ‘Lordy Pony, ya did more than cut it. You destroyed it. It looks like ya put it a damn blender. And the bathroom, Glory. And - and your ear!’

Summary
"The living room curtain was opened partially, and the room was blue.
Chris was asleep, unaware.
She didn’t want to work herself up too hard about the consequences of what she had just done. The uncertainty of her future, and what it meant as a woman to divorce her husband. It was more common these days, she knew. But it didn’t make it any less of a taboo. She wished she felt some sort of satisfaction. She had done it; she was out. All she had to do was start the car and leave and she was free.
She felt empty, chewed up, and spat back out; the scud on the bottom of someone’s shoe.
I want my brothers, Pony thought to herself.
Pony slipped Chris' sunglasses over her eyes and jammed the keys into the ignition, the car roaring to life with an anguished cry. She peeled out of the driveway, tires squealing, and, without a glance back, barreled down the street towards home"
Or,
Ponygirl Curtis was never cut out to be a housewife, and when Chris takes things too far, she does the impossible and leaves. But sometimes it's more difficult to leave than stay.
