“Finally, a question about something important.”Liam looked up from the video playing on his phone, not even listening to the rest of Hawking’s answer. He felt like he was having an out of body experience. He looked down at his other hand and carefully counted on his fingers: himself, Harry, Louis and Niall. That was it. Those were the only members of One Direction, and that hadn’t changed since the band’s inception on X Factor.

Summary
When they first meet, Zayn is a warrior in his mother's clan and Liam is a conquered villager.
Liam has an unhappy past and just a few things that he holds dear. Zayn would like nothing more than to learn about that past and welcome Liam into his clan, and into his life, but Liam does not seem keen on sharing anything with Zayn.
