My Inquisitor is not immediately One of the Gang. She doesn't like these people who've kidnapped her and enlisted her in a war she has nothing to do with. She doesn't know how to do everything right away.
This also means she doesn't jump on the nearest attractive Commander immediately. (Sorry 'bout that. I have other stories where immediate jumping DOES occur, if that's more your thing.) So when I say "slow burn", I am really not kidding.
A large change I've made is I took 20 years off the ages of both Gaspard and Florianne. Not only do they fit in much better with the rest of the cast we're so fond of, it makes the backstory of the Orlesian crown (which ends up playing a part in this) much more understandable. But if you've glanced at the tags you can figure out another reason I did it. :)

Summary
Evelyn Trevelyan is the leader of the Inquisition, a daughter of the aristocracy, a former Circle mage, and deeply infatuated with the Commander of the Inquisition’s forces, Cullen Rutherford.
Cullen Rutherford knows he can't have the Inquisitor. He is her social inferior. He works for her. He’s a lyrium addict.
It doesn't matter. He still wants her.So he hires women to let him work out his sexual fantasies about the Inquisitor. He pays them to let him call them "Evelyn" and he pays them to leave when they’re done.
Evelyn finds out what he's doing. She wants to know why he wants them and not her. And one night she substitutes herself for the woman he's hired. She keeps going back.
Cullen doesn't know where this new woman came from, but he doesn't care--he cannot get enough of her.

Summary
Cullen and Evelyn have been having a perfectly wonderful love affair together. There's just one little activity Evelyn doesn't want to do for him, and he's FINE with that. Really, he is.
But then one day Evelyn wants to please him the way he's always made her so happy and discovers she actually likes it.
REALLY likes it. Never wants to do anything else, in fact.
At the same time, Cullen's problem with lyrium seems to be going away.
Cullen begins to suspect the two things are connected and he ought to figure out what's going on.
