Summary
Telemachus gets drunk at a party. Really, really drunk. Odysseus tries to control himself, tries to be a good father and a good person, but when he goes to check on his unconscious son after everyone leaves, he can’t help himself. Penelope’s gone to visit Ctimine, he’s backed up and could really use the relief, and it’s not like Telemachus will know; his son just looks so much like his mother, just one night wouldn’t hurt…
(Apologies to the three people who subscribed before I showed my true colors. It will not get better.)

Summary
The families of the suitors Odysseus slaughtered were not satisfied with the answers they got for why their sons and brothers were killed. They wanted recompense. They wanted payback.
Arbiter Neoptolemus has an idea that won't result in a new power vacuum: to ensure Odysseus wouldn't consider murder for his son again, the men of the aggrieved families would ruin Telemachus.
To make doubly sure that it stuck, Odysseus had to participate.

Summary
Odysseus has had a long night convincing the various other kings to listen to and rely on him, and it's not over yet. Diomedes, at least, is an accomadating partner.
(Or, Odysseus uses sex to make the rest of the leaders of the Achean Army listen to him despite having little to no taste for the act.)
