Summary
Outside of these prison walls, Mitch is the revered youngest son of Ginny Hadley, a formidable woman whose children have grown into adults as infamous in their city as she. The only difference is Mitch has been caught in his criminal dealings. Now he lives in a cramped concrete cell with nothing but his journal for company. By day he finds his place as the leader of a group of dissatisfied inmates who afford him the same respect he is used to. By night he's no different than any other prisoner, and the guards will not spare him from their sickening violence. Held captive in the basement by the senior guard and his men one night, Mitch is forced to recite from his journal while the guards inflict their cruellest urges upon him. In a place like this Mitch won't find any mercy, and they harbour care for neither his wellbeing nor status. If these men want him to break so desperately, Mitch might not have any choice...

Summary
Kurt has never liked his stepfather, sensed something was off about him even before the abuse began. Now his mother is gone and Kurt is stuck with the man she chose to marry in her dying months. He used to be happy in this house, this town. Now he's consumed by memories, anguish, and his stepfather's nightly abuses. As punishment for an act of defiance, his stepfather leads him to secluded woodland one night and hands him over to a group of dangerous strangers. These men have no qualms about hurting Kurt in the woods, and his stepfather has no problem with watching. When it's over, Kurt is left injured and humiliated, altered, but with the renewed understanding that he must make the abuse stop. His next act of defiance cannot be so minor. It has to be something permanent.

Thomas didn't see this coming. Abducted after a gruelling shift, he scratches at the walls of his grim new prison until his nails are broken and bloody. Only then do his captors return for him, unveiling the worst part about all of this. What Thomas assumed was a sheet-covered painting is in fact a large, ornate mirror. Neither one of them belong in this place, and yet Thomas's captors drag him towards it and hold him in place before his trembling reflection. Whatever they're going do to him, whatever they'll make him do to himself, they're going to make sure he doesn't miss a single moment of it. They're going to make sure that he watches.
