none of the men replied, but they didn’t need to. if his father’s stories rang true, they had to find a way to prevent future sacrifices from escaping.
john inhaled sharply as one of the men grabbed his wrists, securing the chains until both of his arms were bound behind his back. he forced himself to keep breathing in a steady rhythm, watching the men pace around to make sure everything was in order. then, without another word, they turned back to the tunnel they’d come from, taking the light with them.

Summary
There’s a ghost haunting the 141 common room. At least, Soap is about 80% sure there is, which is, in fairness, realistically about as sure as anyone could reasonably be about spooks haunting their workplace. He’s not stupid, he knows no one else is going to believe him if he brings it up. The scorn if he suddenly starts harping on about ghosties and ghoulies.
None of that negates the fact that there definitely is one though. Probably.
