Summary
The last time they had seen each other and spoken was the sludge villain incident. The boy had run out to help him when no one else did. Vague final memories he held was of the boy talking with police and a woman who held a painfully tight grasp on his shoulders. The boy never came back to school after that.
Guilt and shame flooded through him as he sat there completely detached from the rest of the lesson. It was one of the rare times he felt deep settled regret in his bones.
