Summary
When the summit’s shadows drift beneath Republic City’s flame-lit lanterns, Katara slips another “urgent” scroll into the chambers of Zuko. She acquaints him with rows of budget numbers - he acquaints her with the heat of his skin. Their craving is old and viscous, like fingers left sticky by salted caramel.
They’re alone with a frantic pulse and the short list of taboos laid down by Aang, a list they manage to forget two out of three times at best. Scrolls slide to the floor, silk parts to bare the secrets of scarred flesh, and the night keeps breathing in jasmine smoke, salted sweat, and muffled moans that should never slip beyond the Fire Lord’s door.

Meanwhile, On Ji was already at Zuko's side. Katara watched him pull out a slip—watched him read it. His face remained completely impassive. Not a single emotion.
On Ji, on the other hand, bounced. Her finger pointed straight at Katara. She smiled at her—broad, triumphant—grabbed Zuko by the hand, and pulled him across the room.
"It's fate!" she declared ceremoniously, stopping in front of Katara. Zuko stood beside her—tall, hot, with that same bottle of beer in his hand. "You two are the only matched pair so far tonight."
