Joe Goldberg received a fitting ending, stuck in a cage of his own making. But despite all that happened, the last layer of his stability depends on his self-image being of a knight in shining armor, making his whole life purpose revolve around one person. If he's not this, than who is he? If he doesn't have this anymore, nothing is left.
You're Y/N L/N, a hardworking college student majoring in criminal psychology. Something you often wish to hide from others and yourself is how much you see yourself in the serial killers that you study. You need to fool yourself, because so much of your self-worth revolves around being a good person. If you're not this, how can you help people, the way you wished you were growing up?
Beyond common sense and judgement, you send a serial killer a letter requesting to interview them. No one could disregard you anymore, not once they see the paper you'll derive from this interview. It's to prove yourself, you reason.
Showing someone enough compassion to grow and enabling the way they are is a fine line to walk.

You’re out cold on the couch in the back room of the video store, some super-powered asshole having decided to kick the ever-loving shit out of you. Economos has just finished your stitches and is prepping the bandages he’ll use to wrap your broken ribs when Harcourt, back from the supply room toting an IV pole and a bag of morphine, notices Vigilante hovering just outside, in the hallway.
“Chase!” Harcourt barks. “Stop lurking around like a fucking creeper. In or out.”
“Aww, don’t be too hard on Vig,” Peacemaker says. “He turns into a real stalkery fuck when he’s in love.”

After the 70s, Daniel Molloy is regularly visited by what he believes is a sleep paralysis demon with orange eyes watching him sleep, from various positions in his room. On occasion, the demon seems to do a little more than watch him sleep.
Of course there's no connection between this demon and the beautiful young man he's been seduced by multiple times, whom he barely remembers. Or the times he's woken up feeling like he had sex in his sleep.
