The television is always on.
It flickers in the living room, even when no one’s watching. The volume drifts between news anchors shouting at each other and commercials selling fear in wrapping paper. The house smells like reheated dinner and carpet cleaner. Outside, the neighborhood is full of identical roofs and trimmed lawns.

Pony gets put into reformatory after being an accessory to murder. He learns how to be tough, he learns the world is horrible, and he changes. For, what he thinks is, the better. He just wants to protect himself, now. The gang would disagree.
OR, Pony is in reform with Curly. Things happen, Pony gains more trauma, and he changes dramatically. Pony gets out of reform, and things only go downhill.
