Summary
Dankovsky seizes the most unexpected opportunities, turns phrases at exactly the right time to move circumstances into his preferred alignment. He produces solutions for problems he could not possibly have anticipated before they arrived. Today, his foresight has saved the life of a man he has made no secret of loathing, and Karminsky cannot yet pin a reasonable motive to that mercy. Dankovsky acts through his days with such frightening precision; such unerring exactness in the midst of his wild moods. It is dazzling to watch. Captivating.
Impossible.
And Karminsky is an expert hunter of impossible things.

Summary
“Had you ever killed anyone before this?” Aravall asked him, starting to clean his shoulder with a wetted cloth.
“Only other trainees, during full-strike bouts,” Seainin admitted quietly. “But that was always in the Ward Hall, and they’re always quick to bring us back when someone is struck down.”
Aravall passed a hand over the broken skin, letting a soothing burst of frosty air fall from his fingers to numb away some of the pain as he worked. The sting of the antiseptic that followed was softer, a plucked string on the nerves rather than a struck gong.
“So this was your first real kill, then. The first that wasn’t temporary.”
---
Seainin Ellesti, a promising young candidate for clandestine service in the Feywild city of Measartha, struggles with the emotional toll of a difficult exercise in his training. Measartha's Lanna Sioc are its sharpened blades throughout the many planes, and there is no room for hesitance, doubt, or mercy for one who wishes to earn a place within their elite ranks. Luckily for Seainin, his mentor is near at hand to help guide him towards a more... productive mindset about what he's just been through.

Summary
The partygoers tittered nervously at the drawn blade in the midst of the grand hall, stepping away from him. He didn’t particularly care what they thought of his behavior, seeing as they were nothing more than conjured figments. As the guests created a bubble of space around Tolahn, a single other figure was left behind.
The only other person in here who was real.
Aravall wore a sharp suit, two curved shortswords at his hip that appeared to be made of normal, reasonable metal. He dipped a tiny but courteous bow to Tolahn as they faced one another across the ballroom floor.
“Care to dance, Tolahn?”

Tolahn, honeypot infiltrator for the Feywild nation Measartha, debriefs with his handler about the status of his latest mission, and the handling of his latest mark: the young cleric of Selûne, Mattie Yulare, who has left his enclave home of Tenebrous for the first time with Tolahn on a quest for an artifact of great import to his people.

Summary
Tolahn’s back hit hard against the wooden wall as his mark shoved her tongue insistently into his mouth.
He'd been informed that this mission was expected to be a quick hook, but even still, this was the first time he'd had a mark jump to physicality with him without them having exchanged more than ten words first. She hadn't so much as asked his name before putting hands to him, but he wasn't complaining if she wanted to make his job easy. She gripped his jaw hard, the pressure from her fingers coaxing his mouth open further as she explored it, but he couldn't help his thoughts wandering, counting it up.
Approximately twenty-four minutes nursing a drink at the dingy bar downstairs before one of her lackeys had tapped his shoulder and said the proprietress wanted a word with him. Another minute up the stairs, perhaps twenty seconds for her to give him a once over and order her guard out of the room, and then straight into this revelation that a word was, in fact, not what she'd wanted with him after all.
---
Tolahn, honeypot infiltrator for the Feywild nation Measartha, encounters unexpected and dangerous developments during an attempted seduction of a paranoid pirate queen on the Menagerie Coast.

Summary
"You look perfect, my sweet Seainin," she said warmly. "But I sense you are not here with me, are you? Where wander your thoughts, hmm?"
She suspects, his training scolded, the agent in his head reprimanding the "mask" of Seainin. Almost as though he'd caused an undesirable reaction from one of his marks. Assuage her, convince her you are fine. A half embarrassed smile, a gently self-deprecating apology. Be warm to her in turn.
"Forgive me, Mother," Seainin said, his training helping him assume an appropriate expression. "Just a bit tired still, I think."
---
Following a prodigious promotion in his career, the living weapon that had once been Seainin Ellesti tries to remember how to pretend to be himself within the lavish halls of his family home.

Summary
“Don’t trust that one," Achilles said softly. "I’m sure powers such as he offers are… seductive, especially on a task such as yours. But War is a friend to none, Zagreus. Remember that.”
“I think you may be right on that front, sir.” Zagreus ran a hand through his hair, straightening his laurels as he did so. “At times I think he’s as pleased to see me dead as my foes."
