This is only my second fanfic so please excuse the poorly written description.

“You’re deaf” the blonde winced and fought the urge not to break the sound barrier flying herself up and through the roof of the building for sounding as stupidly rude and crass as she did in that moment.
The brunette’s mouth set into a firm line, something not far off from a grimace in response to Kara’s blunt observation.
“I am” her tone was flat. Guarded.

Summary
Sometimes it feels like the universe is plotting against Lena. And it wouldn't be that bad if all she needed to do was travel to an alternate dimension, retrieve a file that's been missing since 1945, and stop her brother from destroying the world. Except, sometimes things don't go according to plan. Sometimes you meet a woman and it's like fate. The same kind of fate that's waiting just around the corner, ready to take you by surprise again.

During Kara's first year at National City University, the DEO reaches out with astonishing news. They've made contact with Argo City, the last remnant of her lost civilization.
Kara returns to Argo, taking the chance to try to rebuild her homeland. In the years that pass, she encourages Argo to reach out to Earth for help. They are in desperate need of harun-el, and so the Earth proposes an exchange, receiving kryptonian technology in return. The DEO nominates an ambassador to foster relations with the kryptonians - a respected technologist to bridge the gap between alien and human technology.
