    His heart raced again when he had a different thought. Maybe Lucy was just as anxious to see him as he was to see her. Maybe she decided to come over early and end his tortuous agony. 

    The mere possibility of that thought being true had him practically sprinting over to the door. In all his haste, he turned the knob without even peering through the viewport to screen the visitor on his porch. 

    He would regret that decision later.

    Tim swung the door open with a nervous smile, only for it to drop instantly when he recognized the woman who stood before him.

    “I have to go to a wedding,” he says, voice tight. Eddie’s eyebrows scrunch in confusion. That’s it?

    “You love weddings.”

    “Not this one. It’s in Pennsylvania. With my mom and dad. For a whole week,” he says, frustration evident in his tone.

    Well that makes a lot more sense. Buck at home for a whole week? Brutal.

    “Maddie, Chim and Jee are going, right?” Eddie asks.

    Buck nods jerkily. “Mmhm. They are. I-It’s just that my parents are expecting me to bring someone and when I don’t, because who the fuck would I ask to suffer for a week for me, they’re going to make comments about how I am going to be alone forever and it-it’s just already on my nerves and I still have nearly three weeks before I even have to go,” he rushes out, abandoning his coffee on the table as he paces back and forth in the kitchen.

    “I’ll come with you,” Eddie offers. He blinks – he hadn’t exactly thought that one through, but he doesn’t regret it, doesn’t want to take it back. Buck freezes where he’s at, body still as a statue as his head whips to look at Eddie.
