Ford hesitated for a long moment, and then he sealed his lips closed and smacked Bill across the face hard enough to send him reeling. Bill gasped in pained shock and put a hand to his cheek, stunned to find the skin red hot and raw to the touch.
Bill blinked. “Ford—“
“I’m sorry!” Ford blurted out before Bill could finish, practically groveling. “I didn’t mean to hit you that hard!” Indeed; there was a red print of his six-fingered hand on Bill’s left cheek. Bill pressed his fingertips hard enough to jar the skin and hissed when it stung, and Ford reached forward to try and pull his hand away. “Sorry—“
Bill continued to grind his fingers into the raw flesh and swatted Ford’s hand away with the other. “Don’t apologize, Ford,” he breathed, heavy lidded eyes fixed on Ford’s exasperated face. “Do it again.”
