Summary
Geralt draws his attention to the lute carefully set to the side of the bed: Jaskier’s pride and joy. Instruments, for Geralt, are entirely against his nature as a Witcher. Despite this, Geralt has secretly wondered what would happen if he were to pluck a string with his own hand; his hand that has only ever graced the hilt of a weapon. But here the instrument sits before him, a darling and intricate product of humanity. The instrument has no other purpose but to illuminate the human condition, the sorrows, and the passion. When Jaskier plucks those strings and sings his songs, Geralt could almost convince himself he feels such things. Of course, he would never say such a thing aloud, especially not to Jaskier.

While trying desperately to navigate their changing relationship, Geralt and Jaskier find themselves entangled in a darker scheme. It all begins with a strange town.
