“Two completely different answers, dude,” she continues. “Do you even know how much you messed up your parents? How much you messed up Noelle?”
Seven years ago, Kris fled Hometown when the entity controlling their SOUL disappeared, leaving them with the consequences of its actions. Now, in the grimy, middle-of-nowhere town of Castaway, Kris must deal with its sudden return. The SOUL threatens the balance they've found in their new life, and may even threaten the lives of their old friends, too.

“So, like, TV Time is back huh?” Susie asked with a cheeky grin. “Who’re the guests today then? Wouldn’t say no to being able to actually WATCH the show this time.”
“Who’re the guests? Who are the GUESTS? What a silly question! You two of course!” Tenna clapped his hands together, producing a microphone from his sleeve. “And your princely pal Ralsei will be there too, of course! Who could forget that fluffy little fella, merch flies off the shelves when he’s on stage, am I right?! Though, he’s asked to be a guest host this time.”
Kris and Susie compete in the ultimate show, with Tenna and Ralsei as the hosts.

Summary
While sorting her thoughts out at Hometown's sad excuse for a beach, Susie is distracted from fantasizing about beating up the Knight by a certain human showing up with a new, terrifying, exciting offer.
“Susie, let’s run away.”
“Whoa-whoa-whoa, hang on, what?” Susie jolted back, but Kris grasped her hand, stronger than she’d expected from such a shrimp. Their weird long piano-player fingers squeezed against her scales, bitten nails digging against purple keratin.
She did not like the way they smiled at her. The smile looked broken, wobbling its way up either cheek towards watery eyes gone so wide Susie could trace the whites around each shrunken pupil.
“Right now. We can go anywhere, Susie. Anywhere that’s not Hometown. There’s a bus route just past the police station that runs overnight. I have money from Asriel’s drawer. We can be twenty miles south by morning.”
